I just think about things and write them down

Mother and Daughter

Parent

Being a parent taught me
I can do anything.
No matter the will,
The exhaustion, the doubt—
I just don’t stop.

I try,
Sometimes I succeed,
Sometimes I stumble,
But I am here. Always.

That is what matters—
Presence.
Patience.
Commitment.

Through joy and frustration,
Through sickness and health,
Through laughter and tears,
Through lows and highs.

And then—
That first morning hug,
That last sleepy cuddle,
The way they need me in sorrow,
The way they need me in joy,
The way they need me—always.

That is parenting.
