Why Am I Constantly Irritated and How Can I Change That?

In today’s world, we’re constantly bombarded by social media, doom-scrolling, and the pressure to conform to endless expectations. Add age, family obligations, daily tasks, work demands, and financial concerns, and it’s easy to see why anyone would feel overwhelmed

That alone is a reason enough for a stable person to be overwhelmed. If you decide to have children or a life partner, it can be really challenging for quite some time. So, how do we do it? How do we stay tranquill in the midst of everyday life? I struggle with having a short temper and for some time I controlled it with vices such as cigarettes or alcohol. But you know that is not a way to live. Like many people, I turned to cigarettes and alcohol to cope with my stress and irritability. But over time, I realized these vices only masked the problem, not solved it. It took time, but I knew I needed a healthier way to manage my emotions. By now you have to know, stress is the 21st century killer so in a way is worse than my old vices. I’m not saying that it’s good to have vices in your life, but you have to do something to control your emotions and don’t let the bad outweigh the good. Because I want to set an example for my daughter that it’s ok to feel overwhelmed, but it’s bad for you to fill your head with things that are out of your control.

So one by one, my vices are gone, so how do I cope with everyday stress? When we live in a world where nothing is good enough and everyone seems to have a better life than your own – being agitated is a state of mind.

So here are a few things I think are crucial to have a more relaxed and stress free life:

  1. Avoid Social Media – even if you tell yourself that social media doesn’t affect you, it’s worth considering how it shapes your thoughts and emotions. In many cases, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or inadequate when comparing ourselves to others online. Whether you want to admit it or not, it’s bad for you and it’s definitely bad for teenagers who have to live a life to find themselves. If they start using social media too young they won’t have a chance to form their individuality. There is a lot of depression and bad things happening to our children and my personal opinion is that social media has a lot of influence in that. They are constantly bombarded with pictures and videos of lifes that are not their own and are feeling like they are not enough, that what they have is not enough. That is no way to live. Children have to be children, go out, meet new people, live their own life. That is the first step in surviving in today’s mad world. 2. Have Good Support – having someone in your life to be there for you when you feel bad is quite crucial for your good mental health. I have the greatest support system imaginable in the form of my husband and even my parents in-law. Without them I would walk on a very different path today and that is saying a lot. And the thing that I’m trying is to be more thankful for them everyday, even when I’m irritated and having a bad day. I know they are here and it relaxes me. I wish that everyone has someone like that.
  3. Positive Mindset – if I would have to describe myself, I would say that I was a pessimist but that I became an optimist. How is that possible? Well, I will tell you a secret – while not every challenge can be overcome by mindset alone, shifting how we approach problems can make a world of difference. I didn’t want to let dissatisfaction rule my life. Our world is a much better place when you look at the bright side of life. Sure, there are always bad things happening, but as I read somewhere – you can only hope that in the end the good things will outweigh the bad things.

So, I can write about things that I think are crucial for a relaxed life, but that is just me. What are you doing and thinking about this topic? I would really like to hear from anyone who has problems with irritation and controlling emotions. What do you do to make your life better? I believe that with the right support, mindset, and habits, it’s possible to break free from constant irritation and stress. Together, we can create a world where emotional well-being and peace of mind take precedence over comparison and negativity.
